Day 22: Koto Harp Concert

Breakfast:
The weather was pretty great again today:
This is the view from our classroom window by the way:

Sugary coffee and an onigiri during our break:
(It's been a while since I've had an onigiri, but this one is #13)

This is the super market I sometimes go to after class:

Today I got a bento, a tuna roll, and another one of those drinks so I'd remember what it tasted like:

It was good, but not fantastic. It's kind of like a 7-up but a little less super sweet and a little more limey.

I also got this 焼プリン(yaki purin)(cooked pudding) hoping that it would be like crème brûlée. It wasn't, which was a little disappointing, but it was still pretty good.

Koto Harp Concert sign:

Here is the harp:

It was made of a large piece of wood, and has thirteen strings strung across it. Each string is tuned by sliding the little white parts up and down the length of the harp. The woman playing the harp frequently changed the tuning by ear between songs. You pluck the strings on the left, and can push and pull on the right to change the sound.
We were allowed to take videos but not to upload videos of her actually playing songs online, so here is one just demonstrating the difference between a Western and Japanese style scale:

After the harp concert, I went with friends to a Melon Pan shop on the street behind the school that we heard was really good:

You ordered here and got a little paper ticket to give to the woman at the counter who would then get you your freshly baked melon pan.

I liked this sign. It warns you that if you get the melon pan ice cream sandwich you should keep it wrapped up to avoid dripping all over.
We all got ice cream melon pan. It was really delicious. The melon pan is fresh and warm when they cut it and fill it with ice cream, so the ice cream gets a little bit melty. The also stick a little melon pan crouton in the ice cream which makes it look pretty fancy.

After that, I sat outside the HIF building for a while and ended up finding a bunch of four-leaf clovers. Here are two right by the steps:
 And another one:
 And another one:
Eventually, I found thirteen of them:

The sun about to set on the car ride home:

Dinner:
I was easily able to avoid the shrimp that stared back last night, but tonight there were two roasted shrimp heads on my plate:
They actually weren't bad, and were almost kind of nutty. Their nose-things were a little pokey though. Even though they tasted fine, I don't think I'd go out of my way to eat them again. They just weird me out a little bit.

I also got some more gum when I went to the super market. I think I like the peach one better, but for some reason I keep chewing these ones instead. They're a little more addictive or something.
